Role Overview The National Accounts Business Development Manager – North plays a key role in supporting IKO’s National Accounts strategy by identifying, developing and qualifying project opportunities at the earliest stages of the construction process. Working closely with regional offices of National Account clients, including main contractors and their pre-construction and supply chain teams, the role focuses on early engagement, relationship development and positioning IKO as the preferred roofing supply chain partner. The role is responsible for managing project opportunities through the early development phase, ensuring they are well qualified, accurately tracked and strategically positioned before being handed over to Area Business Managers (ABMs) for commercial delivery. This is a regionally focused role aligned to national clients and frameworks, operating across the North. Key Responsibilities Opportunity Identification & Development - Identify and develop project opportunities through National Account clients and their regional offices
- Work through main contractor pipelines, engaging with regional Supply Chain Managers and pre-construction teams
- Assess and identify the most suitable opportunities aligned to IKO’s technical capability and strategic objectives
- Position IKO as the preferred roofing supply chain partner at early project stages
- Identify potential new National Account opportunities and emerging client relationships
Project & Pipeline Management - Manage project opportunities from initial identification through to readiness for ABM handover
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date project tracking using internal trackers and CRM systems
- Ensure opportunities are appropriately qualified, including scope, programme, system suitability and key stakeholders
- Monitor project progression and maintain visibility of changes or risks
Internal Coordination & Communication - Coordinate effectively with ABMs, Technical Services, and wider internal teams
- Support ABMs by providing well-developed, informed and strategically positioned opportunities
- Contribute to the preparation and management of compliance packs and framework-related submissions
- Ensure clear and timely internal communication to support opportunity progression
Client Engagement & Representation - Build and maintain strong professional relationships with main contractors and key stakeholders
- Attend project meetings, client briefings and industry events as required
- Represent IKO professionally and consistently in line with company values
Commercial Contribution - Contribute to regional and national sales targets and agreed KPIs
- Support the negotiation process where appropriate, without ownership of final pricing decisions
- Focus on long-term pipeline development and quality of opportunities rather than short-term order capture
Skills, Knowledge & Experience Essential - Strong organisational skills with a structured and methodical approach
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Good understanding of the construction industry and pre-construction process (roofing preferred)
- Strong commercial awareness and ability to assess opportunity suitability
- Confidence engaging with senior client stakeholders
- High attention to detail and strong administrative discipline
- Competent CRM and data management capability
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Ability to prepare professional written documentation and presentations
- Strong relationship-building skills and ability to establish credibility quickly
